When Doctor Who returned in 2005, a brand-new Doctor faced an old enemy, the Autons, who he had first met in 1970!
The Doctor Who Figurine Collection Part 58 shows the Autons from the very first Ninth Doctor episode 'Rose'. The living plastic monster shows one of the army of Autons, animated by the alien Nestene Consciousness that can control plastic. The figure is expertly sculpted using a reference from the Doctor Who TV series, cast in metallic resin, then individually hand painted by modelling experts. The figurine captures The Auton revealing his deadly weapon concealed in his hand and dressed in a new suit.
The accompanying magazine goes behind the scenes of the show, looking at the redesign of this classic 1970s creature, the Nestene and Alex (River Song) Kingston. We discover how the Autons were made, why the head masks had to be split down the face, and why the gun-design followed the same plans from their first appearance in 1970.
A new Nestene invasion has begun!
