The creation of the extraordinary Zarbi was based on writer Bill Strutton’s childhood recollection of seeing two bull ants fighting. Trying to prise the two insects apart, the young Bill received a nasty bite for his trouble, and without this long-lasting memory, the Zarbi might never have been born!
The Zarbi figurine is hand-painted to perfection and is one of the Zarbi that appeared in the 1965 adventure 'The Web Planet'. The creatures, under the control of the alien Animus, would normally be placid, almost cattle-like, happy to wander the lush, verdant world of Vortis.
It comes complete with a 20-page fully illustrated magazine featuring information about Zarbi and how 'The Web Planet became' one of Doctor Who’s most weird and wonderful adventures.
